The article touches upon the concept of art in Dina Rubina’s writing. The novels On Upper Maslovka, Sunday Mass in Toledo and High Water of Venetians have been analyzed here. Rubina’s artistic performance is always associated with vivid imagination, the source of reconstructing the past as well as experience which enables people to go down in history. The article focuses upon the role of the artist and the reader remaining in contact with the work of art taking into consideration the aesthetic and didactic-cognitive role of art. It also presents valorization of Judaic culture in Rubina’s creativity against a background of other European cultures.
