Cultural tourism is a heterogeneous phenomena in many terms. It is taken up by people of different social status and interests. It locates itself in areas where the potential is characterized by being original and having many aspects. The picture of transformation that cultural tourism goes through, being influenced by the place it is taken up, is also interesting to observe. Saint Petersburg, as the city of rich history and unique atmosphere, conditions the kinds of cultural tourism that can be taken up there and, at the same time, it undergoes transformation under the influence of the still-growing tourism. The article aims at generally characterizing cultural tourism in Saint Petersburg.
