This study deals with the historiography of the mining town Jáchymov. In the 16th century a few historiographic works originated, the most attractive of which being the chronicle by Johan Mathesius, a pastor in Jáchymov, and his followers. The works by Johan Seltenreich and David Hüter, local scribes, are less known. The writings are housed in the Jáchymov Municipal Archive and in the National Museum Archive in Prague.
