The realizations of the myth of Tristan and Isolde in the “Chronicle of Amorous Accidents” by T. Konvitski and “Shepherd and Shepherdess” by V. Astafjev were analyzed in this article. We have focused on images of love created by Astafjev and Konvicki, as well as, on the ways the protagonists communicate with each other that defines the relationship between man and a woman, and how the understanding of these concepts coincide and differ in the works of Polish and Russian writers. References to chivalric romance is the only common aspect between the two love stories in the works by Konvicki and Astafjev. The less there are common aspects between the two novels and differences between two love stories the more important becomes the role of the myth itself, which happens to be the only common denominator. The myth of Tristan and Isolde, either consciously or unconsciously implemented by the authors, organizes the behavior of the main characters in both works, and becomes apparent in the rhetoric of both novels and its compositions. We have analyzed how the same elements, characters, situations and motives were realized in works of Polish and Russian writers.
