Previous studies have shown that economical behaviours among the adults depend on temporal perspective they take. Taking this into account, it was predicted that temporal perspective can play an important role also when explaining different economic education practices employed by the partents when educating their childrem. The aim of the current study was to look at the relationship between temporal perspectivs of the parents and their strategies of economic education of their children. In this survey study 108 parents of children aged between 10 and 12 years old took part (755 mothers and 33 fathers). The results showed that future-negative perspective is connected with a later onset of economic education of the child, whereas future and present-hedonistic perspectives are related to an earlier onset of economic education of the children. It should be noted, however, that the applied practices of economic education are different among people with a strong future perspective and present-hedonistic perspective.
