Aim: The paper discusses the issue of primary and institutional socialization to recreation from the perspective of healthy lifestyle. Its aim is to analyse attitude of parents towards children’s physical activity, with reference to role of parents and kindergarten teachers in process of popularizing pro-health recreation. Material and method: The majority of respondents constituted married women aged 31-40 years, with high-school education background. In the research the poll method was used, with an authorial questionnaire. Results: The majority of respondents claim that parents sufficiently encourage their children to physical activity. However, only less than half of them declare that they provide physical activity for their children once a week. At the same time 49 per cent of the respondents believe that parents constitute good example of pro-health recreation. The majority of respondents evaluate promotion of physical activity in kindergartens as sufficient. Conclusion: Parents are characterised by mainly declaratory approach, verbal approval of physical activity as one of child’s developmental need, yet it is not fully reflected in family lifestyle. Thus, for the efficiency of socialization process cooperation of parents with kindergartens is essential. Contents and forms of leisure time which are popularized in kindergarten should be reflected in active physical recreation of the whole family.
