Introduction: The elderly with the variety and prevalence of their diseases are the challenge for healthcare system. Additional medical problems resulting from falls are unnecessary health risks which can be avoided with appropriate treatment. Aim: The aim of the study is to define recommendations to prevent falls among people who have fallen or who are particularly vulnerable to falling. Discussion: The causes of falls in older people vary and are often complex, but their identification allows for appropriate prevention. The knowledge and implementation of certain rules by senior person and their family is essential because simple changes e.g. making certain safety arrangements in the house can sometimes contribute to well-being. Additionally, regular checkups and proper pharmacological and rehabilitation treatment are necessary to minimize the causes of falls. Adequate physical activity and the use of mobility aids can help improve the ability to move and reduce the chances of falling. Summary: Avoiding falls is crucial element of caring for the elderly. Properly coordinated care of the elderly can help avoid falls and their life-threatening consequences. This care should include co-inhabitants, as well as a range of medical professionals who have custody of an older patient which is essential to use the variety of preventive behaviour.
