This article is an analytical report of French research on the subject of child protection. After distinguishing the main themes from the research, the author analyses methods and ethical questions. Then, he studies reasons for not developing several themes of research, and, a contrario, the conditions for the emergence of distinct and diverse research, which is becoming a source of development of public policy.
