Abstract: The article discusses the principles of performing police offi cial duties. Police offi cers cannot rely solely on discretion when performing police activities. Their performance is regulated in the relevant legal acts. Moreover, when performing offi cial activities, police offi cers should demonstrate not only knowledge of the law, but also good knowledge of intervention tactics and techniques, professional knowledge, physical fi tness, and the ability to assess the situation, all of which can contribute to the optimal and most effective police performance
