Increasing popularity of climbing in the past years, understood as a form of recreational form of spending time, became an inspiration for research regarding live and sport values of active climbers. Research procedure: The research was made by diagnostic survey and questioner technique. For diagnostic purposes of the ultimate and instrumental values of the tested group Value Survey (VS) M.Rokeacha has been used. Sports qualities values scale (Survey of Values in Sport) by D.D. Simmons and R.V Dickinson [1986] has been used to valuate importance of qualities in climbing sport for tested group and well as Z. Żukowska typology [1992]. 61 people have been examined, including 23 women and 38 men from all over Poland. Results. Among social and demographic characteristics only education shows strongest relationship with ultimate values hierarchy; all remaining variables do not influence the change of the hierarchy in relevant way. When instrumental hierarchy is under discussion, strongest relationship sets with gender of the research group member. The strongest relation with preferences of the sport values show variables of age, education and climbing experience.. Conclusions. 1. Social and demographic features do not significantly influence the change of ultimate and instrumental values hierarchy. It might be assumed that values create constant hierarchy, which finds confirmation in given analysis of the research. 2. Experience in climbing influence importantly preference of the presented values in climbing. 3. Research results indicate that direct relation to preferences of the climbing values have variables of age, education, income and experience.
