Contemporary applications of evaluation in education should be accompanied by an educational diagnosis, i.e. the use of educational diagnosis should be supported by evaluation. The use of evaluation in educational practice, as well as diagnosis, should precede proper understanding of these notions and strategies. The level of recognition of these functions, roles, goals and needs of evaluation influences its proper implementation and application. Usability of evaluation in education can be seen in the context of three concentrations: sociological, educational and socio-technical. The effectiveness of a particular concentration depends on the individual needs of a specific educational environment.
