In the article are described linguistic and poetic means of creating the ethnic and cultural background of stories about mountain farmers’ lives written by the writer Marko Cheremshyna from West Ukraine. The peculiarities of the writer’s language and thinking are explained by opening the deep meanings of conceptions such as village, house, cutting, trembita etc. The imagery and symbolic world of Cheremshyna’s stories prove the uniqueness of his artistic idiolect.
