The aim of this article is to examine nursing staff's attitudes to the use of stimulation methods for the care of unconscious patients. *is paper presents the results of a case study conducted in Intensive Care Units in Szczecin. Based on the data, it can be concluded that there is a clear need to improve the professional skills and communicative competence of nursing sta( with respect to the stimulation of unconscious patients. Research indicated the need to determine whether the use of stimulating methods is theresponsibility of nursing sta(. Despite general good will and sta( conviction on the use of stimulating methods, there are a number of barriers. *ese include misinformation, a lack of substantial competence and time constraints due to a multiplicity of duties.
