Playing computer games is a pastime activity characteristic not only for the young generation.Opinions on the subject of the impact of video games on human psychosocial functionsvary, but the majority of researchers are concerned and worried. There is significantresearch which suggests potentially dangerous consequences of gaming, such as increasedaggression, becoming indifferent to other people’s suffering, emotional disorders and therisk of addiction. Some academics highlight the connection between sensation seekingand experiencing strong stimuli through gaming, which decreases the sensitivity thresholdin teenagers. The aim of the research was to answer the question of whether there aresignificant differences between individuals who play MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online)games rarely and very frequently and individuals from the control group (who do notplay MMO games) in terms of social skills, the need for stimulation and the tendency tobecome bored easily. The results of the research show that, in general, MMO gamers tendto have a higher need for stimulation, especially in terms of looking for threat, adventureand strong experiences. With regard to social skills, the authors of the paper have notconfirmed the general view on limited abilities of gamers.
