The issue of the article moves aspects of safety in the mountains. The study analyzed accidents in the Beskid Żywiecki in 2006‒2010. The aim of the study was to analyze selected over years of accident and rescue in the Beskidy Mountains, and to show the dynamics of changes in the accident on the area in question. The study used the analysis of documents provided by the Group Beskidy Mountain Volunteer Rescue Service. An attempt was made to formulate the most frequent causes and consequences of accidents and analysis of the impact of the level of preparation of tourists on the number of unfortunate events. Analysis of documents has been enhanced results diagnostic survey conducted with rescuers providing a service in the Beskidy Mountain Rescue Group, based on a questionnaire interview categorized, targeted at the purpose of the article.
