In this article I attempt a brief ethnographic description of one of the Montessori schools in Bavaria (Germany) – the private Montessori School in Wertingen. The article is based upon the research that was conducted in the school in May 2011. The analysis (as well as the experience of being in that school) led to the conclusion that this school is, in a way, similar to the reality that Carroll’s Alice experienced in Wonderland – especially from a Polish perspective. This new environment is entirely different from the one with which we deal in Poland – that is to say in our conservative, behaviouristically-driven teaching culture.
