Fire has always been most dangerous for humanity. Despite this fact it is difficult to find information about fire protection in previous ages. The threat of fire was huge in the Middle Ages. The main reasons were high-density housing in towns and inflammable materials of buildings. The Partition time in Poland was characterized by introduced a number of different regulation on fire protection. The first professional fire brigade was formed in Warsaw in 1836. The first voluntary firefighting brigade was formed in Poznań in 1845.
