The total destruction caused by war and the extermination of the population due to long occupation and diseases were the main factors that shaped the sanitary-epidemiological situation of Szczecin voivodeship. A large migratory movement can also be added to these factors, which can be divided into two principal phases: the /rst one was connected to territory preparation and the settlement of Polish people. *e second phase concerned the planned repatriation of German people from Szczecin voivodeship. *e State Repatriation Department (PUR) was responsible for this process. German people were subjected to disinfection, pest control, and vaccinations to prevent potential epidemics. *is was done at check points relating to sanitation.
