This article is an attempt to describe and apply the reflexivity as a crucial quality to understand and interpret social reality properly. The quality of refl exivity may be applied to sociology which takes into consideration a particular relationship between a thinker and the analyzed object. Reflexive sociology suggests reduction or even removal of the distance which occurred because of methodological dualism. Reflexive sociologist analyses the social reality and studies his own situation at the same time. He is asked not only about how to work but also how to live. An outline of reflexive sociology is presented at the basis of the conception of American thinker A.W. Gouldner. Pierre Bourdieu’s academic contribution also plays an important role in this perspective. Socialization and education are also under sociological consideration. Refl exive sociology can include those elements in its interpretation thanks to its particular method and social objects analysis. It helps not only theorists of education but also practitioners realise their mission more successfully.
