Spatiotemporal Distribution of Recreational Activities of People Living in the Kyiv Agglomeration

The article examines the development of recreational activities in the Kyiv agglomeration (metropolitan area) since the 1960s as exemplified by cottage development. The authors use methods of statistical and cartographic analysis and synthesis to take stock of and evaluate the spatial distribution of recreation activities over the reference period. The current state of the recreational use of the area is based on field research conducted by the authors. The article identifies stages of development and the effect of the basic patterns of the spatial distribution of recreational activity at each stage as well as areas of possible development.
