California is a very popular destination for overseas and in-bound leisure tourists from other American states. California offers much more than the sun and golden beaches. Due to mild Mediterranean climate, it is a place to practise water sports, golf, hiking, cycling and also mountain climbing. Its theme parks and varied types of entertainment make it an ideal destination for families. Big Californian cities are university centres with many educational institutions, so more intellectually-oriented visitors will find here inspiration. The past and old traditions are nor forgotten, so both adventure seekers and historians may spend fascinating time not only limited to museums, theatres or cinemas. A substantial group of tourists are participants in international conventions. Everybody is pleased by international cuisine and Californian wine. The Golden State offers landscapes ranging from desserts to hight mountainous ridges and populated cosmopolitancities. Cities and national parks are often the main goal of the visit. The trip organisation is facilitated by the multitude of information, most popular of which is webside access to practical tips. Highways, camp-sites, restaurants, shopping malls additionally encourage individual tourism. Given the fact that recently the overall income from visitors has been steadily growing, it has had a great impact on the character and economy of California. Although there are slight differences between recent years due to economic fluctuations in the world, the number of international and domestic tourists is high and this tendency will probably be maintained.
