The present study aims at reconstruction of rationalities that provide legitimacy to school educational process. Development of these rationalities is based on integration of critical theory and critical pedagogy, system theory and hermeneutic pedagogy. According to the working defi nition the rationality of school education is the internal logic of education process, which justifies the intersubjective communication together with validity of world interpretations passed on in the education process. We distinguish between four types of rationality: praxeological, hermeneutical, emancipation rationality and a denial rationality.
