As in Western science, in Poland studies of the relationship between social life, health and illness are the subject of classical siocio-medical analyses. The aim of this text is to present a genesis of the sociological perspectives associated with this relationship in general sociology, as it relates to the sociology of health, illness and medicine. !e intention is also to prepare a short characterization and an interpretation of the research models which are used in scientic projects, and especially those in which there are both biomedical and socio-cultural factors used as variables.
