We may observe an increasing interest in tourism connected with a passion for history or nature. This interest is cultivated as an activity satisfying tourists' passion to learn. The paper discusses the history as well as tourist values of a region of the Drevani (German "Wendland", Polish "Drzewianie"), located in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is the area of former Slavic tribes of the Polabians, in Poland practically unknown as a tourist attraction. The publication shows that the Wendland region is worthy of tourist exploration. From the north and west it is surrounded by a protected area - Lüneburger Heide, with a reserve and a nature park of Südheide. From the east, the reserve of biosphere "Niedersächsische Elbtalaue" extends along the Elbe . The central part of the country with numerous villages is also full of charm. These villages have preserved the unique arrangement of houses, which is the Slavic spatial planning solution.
