The author supplies the reader with important information about Chinese self-organisation and self-government. In his analysis, employed is an interesting category-the grass-roots state, as the idea closest to the reality and tradition of Chinese rural self-government. The reader will notice some resemblance of the Chinese conception to the republican political idea of Europe. The text based on pioneer research will give the reader information about the attitudes of social researchers to problems of society’s sovereignty with respect to the state. This text is also meant to turnWestern sociologist’s attention to the great diversity of government systems in China today.
