Abstracts

The paper outlines the problem of the functioning of hydronyms within a multicultural microsociety. In communication in linguistically mixed regions (particularly Slovak and Hungarian), the names in the language of the predominant ethnic group are used. In connection with polyonymy, we pointed out the existence of names that are collaterally used by some community in a certain period, as well as extralingual factors that influenced the origin and the usage of particular names.
