Languages of publication
The Lviv Multicultural Historical Environment in the 19th and 20th Centuries is the subject of a research project realised by the International Research Team as well as the title of a series of publications connected with the project. This project is realised since 2002 by a group of 45 Polish and Ukrainian historians under the leadership of prof. Jerzy Maternicki of the Rzeszów University and prof. Leonid Zashkilin of the Lviv National University. The aim of the project is systematic research on the Lviv multicultural historical environment. Research concentrates on various aspects of scientific and historiographic activity of Polish, German, Ukrainian, Jewish and Armenian historians connected with the city of Lviv in the 19th and 20th centuries. So far three volumes of the series were published. They cover studies and contributions devoted to Lviv historians and periods of their activity hitherto neglected by researchers. Figures of historians of culture, church, education and pedagogy were presented. Another presented problem concentrates on the methodological aspects of the work of a historian, his education, workshop and approach to history. The question of the growth and development of scientific infrastructure in Lviv, and the development of Polonisation of the university in Lviv, scientific societies, editions of sources and professional publications have been presented. Results of amateur lovers of history are presented along the scientific ones. Problems of methodology, approached as a probable reflection on the contemporary method of historiography have also been presented.
