Placitum z Marturi představuje v dějinách římského práva jeden ze zásadních mezníků. Přímá citace Digest, která se v tomto právním dokumentu objevuje po necelých pěti stech letech, explicitně prokazuje návrat římského práva do středověké soudní praxe. Detailní rozbor obsahu placita, včetně okolností vzniku, je doplněn o jeho český překlad. Historický kontext dokumentu následně poodhaluje osudy několika významných osobností (právníka Pepa, Matyldy Toskánské a Petra Damianiho). Uvedené skutečnosti dokládají, že citace Digest v placitu tvoří pouze jeden z řady příkladů, které odůvodňují, proč o konci 11. století lze mluvit jako o počátku renesance římského práva.

The Placitum of Marturi is one of the milestones in the history of Roman law. It was there that the Digest was once again used explicitly in medieval court practice after almost five hundred years. Detailed analysis of the content of the placitum, including the circumstances of its origin, is accompanied by its Czech translation. The historical context of the document then reveals the fate of several prominent personalities (the lawyer Pepo, Matilda of Tuscany and Peter Damian). These facts show that the Digest quotes in the placitum are just a part of a series of examples supporting the view that the Renaissance of Roman law already began at the end of the 11th century.
