The judgment of the CJEU identified in the title of this glossary is the latest addition to the EU Court’s jurisprudence on international jurisdiction for tortious damage claims in the Dieselgate case. According to the Court, these claims can be brought under Article 7(2) of the Brussels Ia Regulation at the place where the vehicle was handed over to the injured purchaser, as a result of autonomous interpretation. After explaining the significance of the judgment, the author criticises it. He believes that it was not desirable to further develop the already existing autonomous interpretation of the question at hand and that, even if it had been desirable, it should have led to a different conclusion.
