Nową propozycję kształcenia, będącą odpowiedzią na rosnące wymagania rynku pracy stanowią Massive Open Online Courses, określane najefektywniejszą metodą kształcenia wykorzystującą łącze internetowe. Mówiąc o MOOCs, można odnieść wrażenie, że nie jest to pomysł całkowicie innowacyjny, gdyż jej filozofia jest spójna z wypracowaną wiele lat temu metodą kształcenia pocztowego. Rok 2012 został w USA uznany rokiem Massive Open Online Courses, który w opinii ekspertów ds. kształcenia zrewolucjonizował dotychczasowe podejście do nauki . Pomimo że w Polsce MOOCs nie jest jeszcze dostępny, to niektóre szkoły wyższe rozważają w przyszłości włączenie tej strategii do oferty swojej uczelni . Nowa propozycja umożliwiałaby uczelniom pozyskanie studentów powyżej 25 r.ż. i zgodnie z postula-tami Lifelong Learning zachęciłoby niektóre osoby do całożyciowej edukacji . Niniejszy tekst ma na celu zaprezentowanie Massive Open Online Courses na tle innych – już dobrze znanych – rozwiązań kształceniowych. W artykule przedstawione zostaną główne założenia kształcenia zdalnego i e-learningu, których znajomość zdaje się być niezbędną dla zrozumienia idei Massive Open Online Courses, a w następ-stwie dokonania bilansu wad i zalet tejże metody.

The year 2012 in the United States and Britain has been declared as the year of Massive Open Online Courses, which in the opinion of education experts has revolutionized the approach to learning. Although MOOCs is not yet available in Poland, some universities are considering inclusion of this strategy to their offer in the future. Such a procedure would allow universities to attract students above age of 25, which in accordance with the demands of Lifelong Learning would encourage adults to lifelong education. This text aims to present Massive Open Online Courses on other, already well known-training solutions. The article will present the main assumptions of the remote education and e-learning, knowledge of which seems to be necessary for an understanding of the idea of a Massive Open Online Courses, and following the balance of advantages and disadvantages of this method.
