La historia del Caribe y de la humanidad en general es la historia de las migraciones. En el presente siglo, una de cada 35 personas es un migrante inter¬nacional. Cuba, país de emigración, como lo definiese A. Aja (2006), constituye una variante peculiar de la migración transnacional, marcada por las características par¬ticulares que han distinguido a la comunidad cubana en el exterior posterior a 1959. La presencia de la migración y sus implicaciones ético-morales en la sociedad cubana, la alegoría de la partida, la separación, el desarraigo, la nostalgia, han consti-tuido referentes ineludibles del arte y la cinematografía cubana, como reflejo de una realidad sociocultural que no puede sernos ajena. El presente artículo tiene como propósito el análisis de una muestra de pro-ducciones audiovisuales independientes, realizadas por jóvenes creadores cubanos, que abordan en su contenido temático central el tratamiento del fenómeno emigratorio cubano, constituyendo una primera aproximación al estudio de este tema en la cine-matografía cubana independiente posterior al año 2000.

The history of the Caribbean and humanity in general is the history of migrations. In the present century, one out of 35 persons is an international migrant. Cuba, country of emigration, as A. Aja (2006) would define it, is a peculiar variant of transnational migration, given the particular characteristics that have distinguished the Cuban community abroad after 1959. The presence of the migration and its ethics and moral implications in the Cuban society, the allegory of the exodus, the separation, eradication and the homesickness have constituted obligated topics of art and Cuban cinematography as images of a sociocultural reality that couldn’t be postponed. The objective of this article focuses on an analysis of a group of independent audiovisual productions, made by Cuban young filmmakers, which have in the main argument the treatment of the Cuban emigration phenomenon, as a preliminary approach to the study of this topic in the Cuban independent cinematography after 2000.
