The subject matter of the paper are two concepts on which the theory of turism region is based. Like the notion of tourism region itself, they originate from the theory of geographical region. These are called the concept of analytical tourism region, and that of real tourism region. In the article the history of their formation and underlying assumptions are discussed, as well as the way of how they describe and explain tourrism phenomena in spatial dimension.

Przedmiotem artykułu są dwie koncepcje, na jakich opiera się teoria regionu turystycznego. Podobnie jak samo pojęcie regionu turystycznego wywodzą się one z teorii regionu geograficznego. Są to koncepcja analitycznego regionu turystycznego i koncepcja realnego regionu turystycznego. W artykule omówiono historię ich powstania, założenia, na jakich się opierają, oraz sposób, w jaki opisują i wyjaśniają zjawiska turystyczne w przestrzeni.
