The oil lamps, one of the basic elements of households and public buildings, are one of the most numerous groups of relics gathered from archaeological sites located in the area of the ancient civilisations. Simultaneously however, such discoveries on the territory of European Barbaricum from this period are relatively rare – from the territory of Poland we have only nine such relics documented that date back to the period between the first to the fourth century CE. In Rev. Dr Władysław Łęga Museum in Grudziądz there are two lamps. There is no publication that would introduce them, though they deserve such, since both of them are of high quality, very good state of preservation and have a unique decoration. Considering the history of the Museum in Grudziądz, it is very significant to show that these unique relics are strictly connected to the history of collection and two men, who were the great custodians – Konstantin Florkowski and Władysław Łęga. It is also crucial to indicate two donors, Xavery Froelich and Marian Hernik.
