Cel: Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie życiorysu oraz dorobku naukowego profesor Barbary Czarniawskiej (1948–2024). Metodyka/podejście badawcze: Tekst zawiera biogram i ma charakter przeglądowy. Dokonano studium literatury naukowej, instytucjonalnych stron internetowych, analizy wskaźników bibliometrycznych oraz danych biograficznych i narracji autobiograficznej. Wyniki: Zarówno życiorys, jak i dorobek profesor Barbary Czarniawskiej wskazują, iż można ją uznać za badaczkę kompletną, jej dokonania naukowe mogą stanowić inspirację dla badaczy rachunkowości prowadzących badania w nurcie interdyscyplinarnym. Oryginalność/wartość: Artykuł przybliża sylwetkę niedawno zmarłej, znamienitej, cieszącej się międzynarodową sławą polskiej badaczki, i jest zachętą do podejmowania badań interdyscyplinarnych w obszarze rachunkowości

Purpose: The purpose of the study is to present the biography of Professor Barbara Czarniawska (1948-2024) and her scientific contributions. Methodology/approach: The paper is a biographical review that draws on an analysis of the scientific literature, institutional websites, bibliometric indicators, biographical data, and autobiographical narratives. Findings: The biography and scholarly contributions of Professor Barbara Czarniawska demonstrate that she was an accomplished researcher. Her work can serve as an inspiration for accounting researchers who conduct interdisciplinary research. Originality/value: This paper acquaints Polish accounting scholars with the legacy of the recently departed, internationally acknowledged Polish researcher, with the aim of encouraging them to pursue interdisciplinary research.
