The paper summarises the results and interpretations of research which surveyed music preferences of university students in relation to minimalist music and its related genres in the area of artificial and non-artificial music (ethnic music, world music, new age, dance music, etc.) The relationship of youth to minimalist music was interpreted on the basis of evaluating thirteen examples from three groups of respondents via semantic differential. The first group was made up of students with music training at the Faculty of Education, the second group of students without music training, and the third group of students from the Faculty of Fine Arts with artistic, but not music, training.
