The Second Vatican Council marked profoundly the future of the Church in Latin America and, consequently, moral reflection in the subcontinent. In the first place, the paper discusses a Latin-American reading of Vatican II and its pastoral reception in the Medellin Assembly. In the second place, two complementary points of view (renewed morality vs. morality of libera- tion) are discussed, which enabled a systematic exposition of moral theology. Finally, some indicators are offered to help the reader understand the actual situation and possible future developments in moral theology in Latin America.
