The paper presents theoretical analysis of multi-project firms at the edge of chaos, in particular their ability to deal with the problem of coexistence of order and chaos. There was described the concept of the edge of chaos for multi-project companies, based on a combination of the complexity of the project portfolio with the flexibility of organizational units. There are also presented assumptions of the model exploring the coherence of these elements, proposing four archetypes of organisational breakdown, related to these factors. In conclusion, the paper describes the applicability of the presented approach in practice and indicates a potential direction for research on this issue in the future.
