"Polityka dywidend, w zakresie jej wpływu na wartość spółki, od kilku dekad pozostaje jedną z najbardziej spornych kwestii w finansach. Potwierdzeniem tego może być fakt, że debata wokół polityki dywidendy, została przez Breylea i Meyersa [2011], wymieniona wśród dziesięciu najważniejszych zagadnień finansów, które wciąż nie doczekały się satysfakcjonującego rozwiązania teoretycznego. Długotrwały charakter i szeroki zakres wspomnianej debaty zrodziły ogromną ilość literatury, która wciąż rośnie. Pełny przegląd wszystkich jej wątków nie jest tym samym wykonalny. Z tego też powodu celem niniejszego artykułu jest przedstawienie tylko jednego wątku debaty tj. dywidendowej teorii cyklu życia przedsiębiorstwa. Realizując ten cel w artykule podjęto próbę przybliżenia teoretycznych podstaw tej teorii oraz starano się dokonać przeglądu głównych obszarów badań empirycznych w tym zakresie. "

"A dividend policy, regarding its impact on the value of the company, has remained one of the most controversial issues in finance for several decades. It may be confirmed by the fact that the debate around the dividend policy has been listed by Breyle and Meyers [2011] among the ten most important issues of finance which still have not received a satisfactory theoretical solution. A long-term nature and a wide scope of the debate have produced a huge amount of literature, which is still growing. Thus, a complete overview of all the topics is not feasible. For this reason, the aim of this article is to present only one thread of the debate, i.e. the dividend theory of the life cycle of the company. Pursuing this goal, the article attempts to explain a theoretical basis of this theory and to review major areas of empirical research in this area. "
