Dyrektorium ogólne o katechizacjii Katechizm Kościoła Katolickiego to dwa niezwykle ważne dokumenty katechezy,które łączą się wzajemnie w swoich treściach i katechetycznych zadaniach. Dokumenty powstały w latach dziewięćdziesiątych ubiegłego wieku, naznaczonych wieloma poważnymi wyzwaniami pod adresem katechezy w drugiej połowie XX wieku. Odzwierciedlają w sobie pojawiające się wówczas problemy, jak i działania Kościoła zmierzające do ich rozwiązania. Artykuł stanowi próbę głębszego spojrzenia na różnorodne relacje, które łączą te dwa dokumenty. Według Autora ich poznanie pozwala głębiej spojrzeć na wizję i dzieło katechezy Kościoła w naszych czasach. Zostały omówione następujące zagadnienia: geneza dokumentów, komplementarność ich treści i funkcji, znaczenie Katechizmu dla katechezy i przekazu depozytu wiary, relacje Katechizmu z katechizmami lokalnymi. Na koniec stawia się pytanie o wystarczalność katechizmu powszechnego czy katechizmów lokalnych dla pokonania współczesnych trudności w katechetycznej posłudze Kościoła.

Te article is an attempt to show the most important questions concerning the relations between General Directory for Catechesis of 1997 and Catechism of the Catholic Church of 1992.Te deep relationship between those two documents is the subject treated with a special attention. Te theme is analyzed in the view of documents’ redactinghistory and the process of renewing of catechesis in second half of XX century. Author describes the following topics: genesis of documents, their complimentary character, the importance of the Catechism for catechesis, its role in transmission of Christian doctrine and in creating local catechisms. Finally the author emphasizes that the Catechism of the Catholic Church presents itself as a synthesis of faith of the whole Church; is the symbol of the unity and purity of faith and should be perceived as the fruit of cooperation of the whole Church. Despite many advantages of Catechism, it is not free of criticism, arising discussions and polemics. Te article is ended with the reflection of the question: is the catechism sufficient to overcome the difficulties of religious formation of man today?
