Autorka, poprzez przyjrzenie się motywacji związków frazeologicznych, poszukuje odpowiedzi na pytanie, jakie aspekty naszego życia są utrwalone we frazeologii oraz, na kolejnym etapie analizy, jakie konsekwencje aksjologiczne niesie takie, a nie inne „postrzeganie” rzeczywistości przez język. Ogranicza się do opisu motywacji związków frazeologicznych zawierających leksemy pies i kot oraz ich derywaty, które dzieli na pięć grup: (1) motywowane sposobem życia zwierzęcia; (2) motywowane cechami biologicznymi zwierząt i funkcjami ich organizmów; (3) powstałe w wyniku subiektywnych sądów człowieka o psie i kocie; (4) powstałe w wyniku obserwacji stosunku ludzi do psa; (5) powstałe dzięki dawnym zwyczajom, literaturze, będące kalkami z innych języków lub takie, w których analizowany wyraz występuje przypadkowo albo w innych niż podstawowe znaczeniu.

The author, through the analysis of the motivation of phraseological expressions, seeks the answer to the question of which aspects of our lives are perpetuated in phraseology, and also, at a subsequent stage of the analysis, what the axiological consequences of a particular ‘perception’ of reality trough language are. The author limits herself to the description of the motivation of phraseological expressions that contain the lexemes pies [dog] and kot [cat], and of their derivatives, which she divides into five groups: (1) the ones motivated by the way of life of a given animal; (2) the ones motivated by the biological characteristics of animals and the functions of their organisms; (3) the ones that have been attributed by humans through their subjective perception of dogs and cats; (4) the ones that arose as a result of the observation of the attitudes of humans towards dogs; (5) the ones that are the result of old customs, literature, that are calques from other languages, or the ones in which the analysed word occurs incidentally or with a meaning that is different from the prototypical meaning.
