The article attempts to synthesise the knowledge regarding the evolution of schools and educational media and it presents the results of the research connected with media-aimed biological education carried out by the authors in the years 2000–2011. The article also describes the conclusions and recommendations for educational practice which must be taken into account in the face of the challenges of the contemporary culture and the process of digitization of schools.
