In recent years in the political debate were formulated postulates concerning the introduction of the Polish legal order of the institutions of the courts of the peace. The implementation of this is three draft laws about the courts of the peace submitted to the Sejm. The article presents the main assumptions of these projects and attempts to evaluate them in their current form. Of all the three projects, the project presented by the President of the Republic of Poland is the most comprehensive. The solutions contained in it are worth undertaking further work on them. The very institution of justice of the peace is justified in the Polish legal tradition and is also present in the legislation of some European countries. The presented proposal is in line with the Constitution of the Republic of Poland, as it establishes the court of the peace as an element of the common judiciary and guarantees the independence and independence of the courts of the peace.
