This text draws attention to the media form of Kanakisch, a language mixed variant used by the modern German youth of foreign (particularly Turkish) origin, and also by indigenous youngsters. The text studies the motives underlying the excessive use of ethnolect language form in the media and the consequences of that media experiment. The material studied comes from short stories in Kanakisch by Michael Freidank selected from his book Kanakisch - Deutsch.
