It is demonstrated empirically in the world literature that irrespective of economic, cultural or historical factors income distributions follow universal patterns in different countries and exhibit an exponential (Boltzmann-Gibbs) distribution for low and middleclass incomes and power-law (Pareto) distribution for the highest incomes. In this article we present calculations based on a survey cyclically conducted by Council for Social Monitoring confirming these findings for income distributions in Poland. Obtained parameters of Pareto and Boltzmann-Gibbs distributions are statistically significant and indicate increasing income inequalities in Poland in the years 2003-2011 (which is somehow contradictory to the Eurostat data showing that the trend of increasing income inequalities in Poland reversed after 2005).
