Stowarzyszenie Narodów Azji Południowo – Wschodniej (ASEAN) pozostaje jedyną, mającą znaczenie w przestrzeni międzynarodowej, organizacją regionu Azji Południowo – Wschodniej. Pomimo pogłębiającego się procesu integracji stowarzyszonych państw, coraz bardziej zauważalny jest rozdźwięk oraz wewnętrzne animozje wpływające negatywnie na integrację organizacji. Autor w niniejszym artykule stawia tezę, iż część tych komplikacji ma swoje źródła w historii rozwoju organizacji oraz braku zaangażowania w rozwiązywanie narastających przez lata problemów wewnętrznych ASEAN.

Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN) remains the only internationally significant organization in the South-East Asia. Despite the ongoing process of intergration of the member states, this integration is more and more impaired by internal discords and animosities. The thesis advanced in this article is that a part of these complications derives from the history of the organization’s development and from the failure to deal with amassing over the years internal problems of ASEAN.
