Rosario Ferré zmarła 18 lutego 2016 roku w San Juan w Portoryko pozostawiwszy po sobie spuściznę powieściową oraz eseje krytyczne dotyczące procesu twórczego pisarza, a także pism Sor Juany Inés de la Cruz, Felisberto Hernandeza i Julio Cortazara. W dzień po śmierci Ferré, świat literatury poniósł kolejną strate żegnający zmarłych dwoje znakomitych pisarzy, nagrodzoną nagrodą Pulitzera Harper Lee, autorkę słynnej powieści Zabić drozda (1960) oraz Umberto Eco, autora uznawanej za arcydzieło powieści Imię Róży (1980).

Rosario Ferré died on February 18, 2016 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, leaving behind a valuable fictional production and influential critical essays about her own creative writing process as well as on Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, Felisberto Hernández, and Julio Cortázar. One day later after the writer’s death, the world of literature lost also two of its most celebrated novelists, Harper Lee, the Pulitzer award winner and author of To Kill a Mockingbird, (1960) and Umberto Eco, author of The Name of the Rose (1980).
