In this article I take into consideration the complex process of biological evolu­tion in respect of its teleonomy, i.e. its non-purposeful, non-intentional directedness. I seek to find a balance between the concept of “pure contingency” of evolution, and the anthropocentric (or rather theocentric) concept of intelligent design (ID).
