Programs for the training of translators, especially in relation to Master’s Translation Studies contain three subject blocks : linguistic and translation training, professional training and academic training. The academic training consists, as a rule, of the MA seminar which ends in the defense of the Master’s thesis. To properly carry out scientific research the Professor who conducts the students must tackle a variety of texts corpora. In this article we present various statistics which show how students choose these corpora. The following issues will be discussed : the role of the MA seminar in the overall training of translators at the university level, corpora dating back to the nineteen eighties as opposed to present-day corpora, literary and non-literary corpora and the diversity of the issues studied, suitability of corpora in connection with the issue under analysis, methodology of analysis.
