The aim of the article is the attractiveness analysis of sociotechnical persuasive argumentation in the discussions concerning tightening/moderating norms of criminal law. The author advances a hypothesis that the discussion about the form of criminal law becomes a chain of endeavours of social engineering, which aims at gaining power in democratic societies. The regulation of basic social values such as human life, freedom, personal immunity or country independence is always marked with emotions, therefore the use of wide variety of “fact presentation” techniques helps to mould desirable collective awareness.
