Artykuł ma na celu ukazanie rozwoju peruwiańskiej architektury kolonialnej na przykładzie katedry w Limie; dzieje katedry w Limie stanowią bowiem historię peruwiańskiej architektury kolonialnej w zarysie – liczne trzęsienia ziemi i wynikająca z nich konieczność częstego odbudowania świątyni stanowiły okazję do zmodyfikowania planu katedry i wprowadzenia nowych stylów i form wyrazu.

The point of the article is to present the evolution of Peruvian colonial architecture taking as an example the Cathedral of Lima which history becomes a history of Peruvian colonial architecture in a nutshell. Numerous earthquakes and the necessity of reconstructions opened the way for the introduction of new architectural styles and forms of expression that defined the evolution of the colonial architecture.
